Starting a blog, 20 years late
I can't remember how I found x.com/melissa, but it's one of my favourites. Melissa does a lot of reading (a trait I wish I possessed), particularly on raising kids. Having been a Dad for a few years now, and still trying to figure out how to not mess it up, I enjoy her posts a lot.
A funny thing I've found with trying to become a better parent is that it's largely a case of becoming a better human in general. One big slice of this is empathy, and in the context of kids, often means revisiting first principles and the very bottom building blocks of everything. So books about how to raise and educate kids are super interesting because you also realise things about yourself. Case in point:

I've thought about writing more for a long, long time... even had a couple of false starts with previous blogs. But something never quite landed. I think with most endeavours in life, it doesn't really matter how much you think you want it, you have to find the right type of motivation, or it just fizzles out.
A couple of things have happened recently that brought this back into my mind, and I'll write about them soon, but the post above was the igniting spark. I'm not writing to achieve some kind of predetermined outcome, but to send something back.
